LinksPoint's
Leading Golf GPS Software Included as Third-Party
Application for iQue 3600 Handheld
Las Vegas, Nevada (January 8, 2003) -
LinksPoint today announced that its StarCaddy golf
GPS system is a featured application on Garmin
International Inc.'s newly unveiled iQue 3600, the
first consumer personal digital assistant (PDA)
with built-in Global Positioning System (GPS)
capabilities.
Garmin's
iQue 3600 is the first PDA to be distributed with
StarCaddy, the leading handheld golf GPS
application. Using the iQue's integrated GPS
functionality, StarCaddy pinpoints a golfer's
exact position on a digital map of the course and
provides accurate distance measurements to the
center of the green and other course features like
doglegs, sandtraps and water. StarCaddy helps
golfers pick the right club, avoid hazards and
improve their overall game. Users will be able to
download a free trial StarCaddy map for use on a
course of their choice from the StarCaddy
directory.
"StarCaddy
adds a new dimension of functionality to Garmin's
exciting iQue 3600," said Strite Potter,
President of LinksPoint. "GPS allows this
device to transcend the ordinary PDA to offer
benefits that set it apart from any other
handheld, like navigation, and now, GPS-based golf
yardages."
